FAQs
Discover how osteopathy can support your health and well-being. On this page, you'll find answers to common questions about treatments, what to expect, and how to book your appointment at our clinic.
What happens at a treatment?
In the first part of your initial treatment your practitioner will take a detailed medical history including information about your current problem as well as your general health and accidents and injuries you have had in the past.
Next your practitioner will do an examination which may include looking at your gait, standing posture, range of motion and possibly some orthopaedic tests. Then your practitioner will decide where is the best place to start your treatment, this may not be where you are feeling symptoms.
Osteopathy has many different techniques, some quite gentle and relaxing, some may be slightly uncomfortable in the moment. Your practitioner will talk to you about which ones they think are appropriate for you and why.
You may be given some suggestions of things you can work on at home to help get the best results out of the treatment.
What should I wear to a treatment?
Bring along or wear something comfortable and flexible.
We need to see and feel how your body moves. Most of the time you will remain fully clothed but some of the practitioners may want to do some soft tissue work that could involve you taking off your shirt.
Is osteopathy covered by MSP or extended health?
Osteopathy is not covered by MSP but it is covered by extended health plans with most of the insurance companies. Check with your individual plan to see if osteopathy is included.
Do you do direct billing?
Yes we do direct billing through Telus eHealth.
Although many insurance companies like Manulife and Canada Life will use Telus eHealth, Sunlife, BlueCross and GreenShield do not. Although you may have coverage for osteopathy we will not be able to directly bill those companies. We will issue a receipt for you to be able to claim yourself.
